Residence: Frequently Asked Questions

  • There are a few key deadlines for acceptance. Please view our Apply to Residence page.

  • Yes, you may apply before receiving your acceptance from Sheridan College! It is never too late to apply, however we encourage students to apply as early as possible. For more information, please view our Apply to Residence page.

  • Residence acceptances will be sent via the email address provided to us in your application.

    Applicants for the academic year: Students who complete an application by May 1 will receive notification of acceptance or waitlist status by May 31 via email. Acceptances will continue after this point as spaces become available.

    Applicants for the summer semester: Students will begin receiving acceptance emails in March. Additional acceptances will be sent out weekly thereafter.

    Applicants for the winter semester: Students will begin receiving acceptance emails in November. Additional acceptances will be sent out as more spaces become available. Please note that acceptance numbers are based on Academic Year withdrawals and vary year to year.

  • As a resident/parent/guardian you will want to ensure you go over the acceptance email including the attached Student Residence Agreement (SRA) and Residence Community Living Standards (RCLS); these are also available under Resources on the Residence home page. Reviewing these documents will ensure that you are fully aware and understand the important things to know about living in residence. This includes, but is not limited to the payment schedules and deadlines, any rules and regulations of the residence, move-in and move-out dates, holiday breaks, etc.

  • Students will be given the opportunity to browse roommates online, send messages and accept potential roommates. If a student doesn’t want to select their own roommate, the residence will allocate roommates based on personality profiles completed during the application process. Roommate allocations will be sent in early August.

  • To provide us with more information about how we can support your success in residence, please provide your details in the Medical, Accessibility, and Special Consideration section of your application to residence.

    Students requiring special accommodations on campus are encouraged to also register with Accessible Learning (AL).

  • The Trafalgar Campus has two residence buildings with a combined total of 824 beds and the Davis Campus has 386 beds.

  • Yes! Students attending HMC should apply to live at the Davis Campus residence located only 25 minutes from HMC.

  • Please refer to our rates and payment options for more information.

  • Residence is a “designated residence” for property tax and rent purposes, meaning that residence fees cannot be claimed on income tax returns. The only claim that is allowed is $25 for the year (with no receipt necessary), as directed by the Ontario government: 5006-TG, T1 General 2012 – ON-BEN Application for the 2017 Ontario Trillium Benefit and the Ontario Senior Homeowners’ Property Tax Grant. For this reason, Residence does not issue tax receipts for residence fees.

    You can print a copy of your account statement by logging into your housing portal and selecting the “Accounts” tab. Residence front desk staff can also print this statement for you.

  • No. Sheridan College does not offer a meal plan for residence; however there are a variety of on-campus food vendors for all students. Find out more at Dine on Campus. Each two-bedroom suite has a kitchenette for food preparation and students also have access to larger, fully equipped communal kitchens in their residence building.

  • Many students utilize grocery delivery services such as Instacart, Walmart Delivery, etc., to have their food delivered. Both Trafalgar and Davis campuses feature transit hubs which allow students convenient access to bus routes and nearby grocery stores.

  • A fully furnished two-bedroom suite with shared kitchenette and shared washroom. View a photo gallery of the suites.

    Each bedroom has the following:

    • Double bed (54” x 80”)
    • Desk and chair
    • Two-drawer dresser
    • Closet space with storage
    • High-speed internet

    The shared bathroom has a vanity, shower and toilet.

    The shared kitchenette has the following:

    • Fridge
    • Kitchen table and chairs
    • Microwave
    • Cabinet and sink with counter space
    • Thermostat

    The quad-style suites offered at the Davis Residence are fully furnished two-bedroom suites. Each bedroom contains a set of bunk beds, and there is a shared kitchenette and shared washroom.

  • You have two options to visit the residence:

    1. You can tour Sheridan College, which includes a tour of the residence by registering online. Campus tours are offered Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Please note: We cannot guarantee that a suite will be available to see.
    2. You can also take a virtual tour of Residence.
  • All students parking on campus must purchase a virtual parking permit at epark.sheridancollege.ca

  • Yes. Residents must sign in their guests at the front desk and show valid ID (government issued or current student ID) before they enter the residence. Residents may sign-in up to two guests at a time, and visitors are welcome to stay 2 nights in a row. Each resident is permitted to have 10 overnight guest stays per month. Note: overnight guests are not permitted in a 4-Bedroom (Quad) style suite at the Davis location.

  • Students who are in classes or co –op terms are encouraged to stay during the summer semester. We offer great rates on our summer accommodations to full-time, enrolled Sheridan students. Applications must be submitted by April 15th for consideration.

  • Sheridan Residence only offers Academic Year Term (September–April), Winter Term (January–April), and Summer Term (May–August). You are not able to live in residence after graduation or between terms when you are not enrolled in classes. If your academic schedule operates outside of the term rotation Residence offers, please reach out to residence management upon receiving your residence offer of acceptance to discuss options.

  • Log into your housing portal and complete the cancellation steps. Please refer to the cancellation policy found in the Student Residence Agreement.

  • “E-Bikes” and “E-Scooters” should not be brought to residence and are not permitted to be stored or charged in your residence suite.
  • The process for obtaining a Student Visa is challenging, and this year more than ever, new international students are facing hurdles with obtaining post-secondary education in Canada.  We do not encourage holding a space open while waiting for approval to come to Canada.

    International students who do not have their study permit by August 1st are encouraged to cancel their residence application by this date. Holding a space beyond August 1st while not eligible to arrive to Canada and attend classes, will subject you to full cancellation penalties.
