Work Study

International students

You are strongly encouraged to book an appointment with a Sheridan Regulated International Student Immigration Advisor (RISIA) at Sheridan to learn more about your work authorization and get answers to questions relating to your immigration status and working in Canada.

Work Study financially supports part-time and full-time Sheridan student employment positions for eligible domestic and international students.

You must apply for Work Study consideration each semester. You can only work one Work Study supported position per semester.

Scotiabank Logo

Thanks to a $250,000 gift from Scotiabank’s ScotiaRISE program, for the next two years Sheridan will be able to fund more Work Study positions for international students, helping them gain Canadian work experience that's essential to help them succeed in Canada.

Work Study eligibility requirements

You must be registered in a Sheridan postsecondary program and demonstrate financial need.

You are ineligible for Work Study if you are sponsored by Better Jobs Ontario and/or enrolled in a joint program. You may inquire about Work Study at your collaborative school.

Part-time Work Study (working no more than 24 hours per week)

You must be actively enrolled in a study term, or between regularly scheduled academic semesters with academic enrolment in the semesters before and after the part-time employment term.

Students who are enrolled in a co-op/internship work term are ineligible for part‑time Work Study.

Applying for Work Study for part-time employment

To obtain Work Study approval, you must apply through Sheridan’s Online Award System which can be accessed through:
myStudent Centre > Finances > ’Other Financial’ drop down menu > Online Award Application

  • Spring 2025: General Award Application opens April 4, 2025

How to apply

  • Step 2: Navigate to the Part-Time Work Study Application and apply.
  • Step 3: Receive your Work Study decision.
  • Step 4: Visit Sheridan Works to get started applying for on-campus jobs. You will need to upload your Work Study Application Approved email as a supporting document along with your resume, cover letter, etc., to any position you are applying to.

*If you are between academic semesters or programs, contact Work Study at workstudy@sheridancollege.ca from your Sheridan student email account and include your student ID number to receive application instructions.

Co-op/internship employment

You must be completing a co-op/internship placement with a Sheridan employer and have academic enrolment in the semesters before and after the co‑op/internship employment term.

Applying for Work Study for co-op/internship employment

If you are scheduled to be in a work placement term, you will receive an email directly to your Sheridan email address with instructions on how to apply for Work Study. This email will be sent after day 10 of the semester before your work placement is scheduled to occur (e.g. students scheduled to be on their work term in Fall 2024 would have received an email by the end of May 2024).

If you are scheduled to be on your work term but did not receive an email, please contact workstudy@sheridancollege.ca from your Sheridan student email account and include your student ID number.

Summer student workers (Appendix G)

You must be on a scheduled break during the Spring/Summer semester and have academic enrolment in the semesters before and after the employment term.
