Credential Assessment

If you have education from outside of Canada, you may need to provide a Credential Assessment Report when you apply to Sheridan.

Where can I get a Credential Assessment Report?

You must request a Credential Assessment Report from an independent credential assessment organization. Options are listed here based on your educational experience (secondary or postsecondary):

Credential assessment processing times vary. Please refer to the organizations’ websites for details. Credential assessment fees will apply.

How can I submit my Credential Assessment Report?

Domestic applicants:

  1. Apply to your program of choice through ontariocolleges.ca.
  2. When your Credential Assessment Report is complete, request that the assessing organization send it directly to ontariocolleges.ca for you. (If you have a WES Credential Assessment Report, you can ask WES to add Sheridan and/or ontariocolleges.ca as a recipient.)

International applicants:

  1. Apply to your program of choice through Sheridan’s international application portal. (Find out how to apply.)
  2. You will know that you need to provide a Credential Assessment Report for admissions if: a) the requirement for a Credential Assessment Report is indicated in your Application Portal, or b) you plan to apply for Advanced Standing.
  3. When your Credential Assessment Report is complete, request that the assessing organization send it directly to Sheridan College for you. (If you have a WES Credential Assessment Report, you can ask WES to add Sheridan as a recipient.)

Things to keep in mind:

  • Admission to Sheridan’s programs is based on both academic requirements and English language proficiency for all students whose first language is not English. Along with your credential assessment, you may also be required to provide proof of English proficiency.
  • Original academic documents, transcripts or evaluations sent to Sheridan will not be returned to applicants, their families or any agents acting on behalf of applicants.

What's the difference between a general assessment and a course-by-course/comprehensive assessment?

  • General assessments can be used for admission to specific Sheridan programs. See "What type of assessment is required for my Sheridan program?" (below) for details.

For Business diplomas, you can submit a general assessment and be sent for math testing for admissions purposes. Refer to Sheridan's Assessment Centre for details.

  • A course-by-course/comprehensive assessment provides details on all courses, grades, completion dates and GPA. General assessments do not provide this information.

Required for specific programs: Some Sheridan programs have specific course or GPA admission requirements, and therefore require course-by-course/comprehensive assessments. See "What type of assessment is required for my Sheridan program?" (below) for details.

Required for Advanced Standing: Sheridan requires course-by-course/comprehensive assessments for students requesting Advanced Standing. Course outlines and translations may also be required.

What type of assessment is required for my Sheridan program?

The list below indicates which type of assessment (general or course-by-course/comprehensive) is required for admission to each program offered at Sheridan.

Note: CBC/COMP = course-by-course/comprehensive
