Dr. Alireza Sobhanmanesh holds a PhD in Education from the University of Ottawa. His research examines the psychology of academic language learning in Canadian universities and community colleges, with attention to the sociological factors that shape learners’ participation and language development. In particular, he investigates psychological constructs such as motivation, engagement, flow, resilience, personality, and emotions in English for Academic Purposes (EAP) contexts. He also draws on critical pedagogy, critical EAP, and participatory and community-based approaches to better understand learners’ experiences in EAP settings. Alireza has published in Q1 journals in educational psychology and language education and has presented at major national and international conferences in both fields.
