Marcel Nelson graduated with a Ph.D. in Political Studies from Queen's University. In addition to his Ph.D., Marcel obtained an M.A. from York University and a B.Soc.Sc from the University of Ottawa.

He has published works pertaining to regional integration in the Americas and multilevel governance.
