Mohammad Rafsun Islam worked in both academia and industry for more than five years. His position involved being a university lecturer, a cyber security engineer, a research and teaching assistant, and a web software security tester.

Mohammad Rafsun Islam is a dedicated teacher. He has experience teaching cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, computer programming, and computer networking courses. He also published one journal article and one conference paper related to cybersecurity and artificial intelligence. His academic interests are cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and programming languages.

Mohammad Rafsun Islam has a master of science degree in computing from Queen's University, a master's degree in information security from St. Cloud State University, and a bachelor of science degree in computer and network security from Dakota State University.
