Dr. Yalin Gorica is a Professor of Early Childhood Education, who teaches both the Early Childhood Education (ECE) Diploma program and the Early Childhood Leadership (ECL) Bachelor Degree program at Sheridan Institute of Technology and Advance Learning in Ontario, Canada. Yalin received a Doctor of Education in Higher Education Leadership from the University of Calgary with a focus on international partnership and study abroad in higher education. She also holds both Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) and Ontario Certified Teacher (OCT) certificates in Ontario.
Having worked with students from as young as toddlers to mature students at various colleges and institutes in Canada, Yalin is highly motivated by student success. A strong advocate of inquiry-based experiential learning, Yalin was instrumental in initiating and implementing an international placement for Sheridan ECE students to explore curriculum and pedagogical perspectives when working with young children in different social and cultural contexts.
Yalin regularly attends and presents at national and international conferences in the field of early childhood education, applied research, higher education and program evaluation. She also delivered workshops to professionals in Canada, China and Hong Kong on topics including play-based learning, working with children and families in different cultural contexts, Canadian early childhood practices as well as teaching and conducting applied research in Canadian colleges.
