Sheridan College will only use this information internally and will use all available means to protect the information it collects. As such, the Sheridan S‑Sense program and technology adheres to Sheridan’s Privacy Policy.

Below you will find information related to Sheridan’s strategies for protecting personal information and individual privacy while individuals are using the Sheridan S‑Sense App on iOS and Android devices.

1. Information Collection and Use

Sheridan College may collect the following information through the Sheridan S‑Sense App:

  • Personal Information: Such as email addresses, first and last names, student/employee ID numbers, and user-generated content (e.g., photos, text entries, reflections).
  • Purpose of Collection: This information is collected to personalize user experiences (e.g., in-app greetings like “Hello, Name”), enhance data protection, analyze demographic and app usage trends, and tailor content to support users' self-development. It is also used to improve the overall user experience on the Sheridan S‑Sense App.

2. Use of Cookies and Tracking Technologies

Sheridan College may use “cookies” or similar technologies to customize the Sheridan S‑Sense App. A cookie is a data file sent to your device to enhance your experience. Cookies allow the app to remember specific information to make future interactions more efficient and helpful.

The Sheridan S‑Sense App uses third-party Single Sign-On (SSO) technology to manage session cookies. These cookies are stored within your device’s browser settings and used to refresh session tokens. If a valid cookie is not found, the app will trigger the SSO process.

Note: Cookies do not grant access to your device’s storage, files, or locally stored information. Only the app that placed the cookie can read, modify, or delete it.

3. Deleting Your Data

You may request to have your profile, and all associated data deleted from the Sheridan S‑Sense application at any point. The application stores your Sheridan credentials when you login for the first time, in addition to content you create while using the app. This includes, but not limited to text entries such as thoughts, intentions, motivational statements, reflections, aspirations, emotion check and your overall progress in building resilience and your future-self.

4. Third Party Providers

We use third party service providers to distribute and manage the Sheridan S‑Sense App. We require that these third-party service providers protect the information they store on our behalf.

Sheridan College will only use information collected for the internal purposes listed here and will use all resources available to ensure that personal information is maintained securely. Sheridan College will not sell, rent, exchange, or disclose your information for any reason unless there is a legal requirement to do so.

5. User Generated Content

Users may contribute content or feedback through group sessions, usability testing, in-app submissions, and other functions (collectively referred to as User‑Generated Content or UGC). Any UGC submitted may be publicly displayed, including in reports or promotional materials, subject to the terms communicated in the App’s End User Licensing Agreement (EULA).

Please note that any information disclosed in connection with a UGC submission may become public, and you should exercise caution when sharing personal, financial, or other sensitive information. Sheridan College is not responsible for any misuse of information shared in UGC submissions that may violate this Privacy Statement, the law, or your personal privacy.
