Don Graves

In memoriam

Don GravesThe Sheridan College community mourns the loss of former faculty member and Dean of the Arts, Don Graves.

Don was a much-loved part of Sheridan's music theatre community from 1972–1999. A classically‑trained musician and conductor, Don made his mark at Sheridan as a vocal professor and as the co-founder of Sheridan's renowned music theatre program. He later became Dean of the Arts Faculty, sharing his love for creativity and artistic expression with a generation of young artists. His colleagues recall a man with a song in his heart and an irrepressible sense of humour; his students remember fondly his kindness, his patience, and his unfailing encouragement as they worked towards their artistic and personal goals.

A lifelong patron of the arts, Don will also be missed by the many artists, writers, and performers who he mentored in his later years through his work as a landscape artist and a book reviewer.

To honour his memory and his commitment to music education, we are pleased to direct these donations in Don's name to support students in Sheridan’s Music Theatre program.
