Yuchong Rachel Jiang
Biography
- PhD, Faculty of Medicine, The University of Liverpool, UK
- Thesis topic: Image processing and pattern recognition on bone age analysis
- MSc, School of EEE and Info. Technologies, Liverpool Polytechnic, UK
- Has been teaching in higher education since 2000
- Has led a research team on building a software solution for objective method of chronic pain assessment and carried and led a research team on the research project of building a mobile application called auto-assistant system for elderly to help aging populations improve their quality of independent living including an automatic pill management system using mobile devices and a navigation helper which is able to detect road conditions while walking on the road using Microsoft Hololens that improves the mobility of elderly. We applied advanced image processing solutions to build such systems. Three research students of mobile computing degree from Sheridan College was working and supervised on this project.
- Carried on the applied research projects in computer-assisted radiology and surgery, 3D graphics application for medical image analysis in collaboration with doctors and research teams at SunnyBrook Hospital.
- Published papers in the journal of Computer assisted Radiology and Surgery on the research project of 3D treatment planning for Brachy cancer therapy as well as conferences. This paper received 313 reads and 47 citations.
- Developed a few teaching/research projects in Artificial Intelligence and 3D simulations and added to the related course materials.
- Worked with the Centre for Applied AI (formerly known as the Centre for Mobile Innovation) at Sheridan College Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning with industry partner CloudX on a research project of patient care monitoring system with mobile applications such as Hololens.
