Program Overview
A changing landscape
The role of the HR manager has grown steadily in importance. Today's HR management professionals contribute on a strategic level, dealing with talent acquisition, total rewards management, training and employee development, employment law, health and safety, labour relations, change management and HR metrics. At Sheridan, you'll learn to navigate the complexities of this role.
Co-op experience
You will have the opportunity to apply to the optional co-op program during your first academic semester. If admitted to the co-op program, your work term will take place during the 4-month term following the second semester. Co-op positions may be paid or unpaid. This opportunity for real-world experience in an HR environment can be an invaluable asset to your career.
Additional certification
This program includes nine courses required by the Human Resources Professionals Association (HRPA) towards achieving a professional designation in Human Resources. These designations are the CHRP (Certified Human Resources Professional) and the CHRL (Certified Human Resources Leader).

In order to be granted the CHRP, applicants must:
- Meet the coursework requirement.
- Pass the CHRP Knowledge Exam.
- Pass the CHRP Employment Law Exam.
- Complete the Job Ready program offered by HRPA.
In order to be granted the CHRP applicants must:

Co-op
As of September 2025, students in this program may apply to the co-op program during their first academic semester. Enrolment in the co-op program is limited through an additional co-op application process that takes place in the first semester. Students in the co-op program are eligible to complete a co-op work term during the 4-month term following the second semester. The program-specific academic standard required for participation in co-op can be found here: Academic Standards for Co-op and Internship. Prior to September 2025, the co-op work-term is a mandatory graduation requirement of the program, completed by all students.
Co-operative education is a form of work-integrated learning that links classroom learning with paid or unpaid work experiences within a professional environment. Co-op work terms are related specifically to the academic studies of each student. The work terms provide an opportunity to learn by doing. You’ll apply theory to practice, develop a meaningful view of the working world, and cultivate an awareness of yourself as a professional.
Students receive in-class and 1-on-1 career education support to help prepare for the work term. The co-op component is delivered by Sheridan’s Cooperative Education Office, which is proud to facilitate one of the largest college co-op programs in Canada.
