A stunning glass installation, “Aurora Borealis” was created by 32 students from our Honours Bachelor of Craft and Design – Glass program.
The piece features approximately 2,200 glass tubes cut to varying lengths and suspended from the ceiling in undulating curves. During the day, the glass makes beautiful use of the natural light afforded by adjacent two-storey windows. At night, the piece is alive with colour — an effect achieved by taking real-time video camera images of people moving in the space, transferring them into coloured impressions, and projecting them onto the suspended glass tubes.
