Organizational change at Sheridan

Learn more about the bold, responsible actions we are taking to protect Sheridan’s future.

In response to a complex and challenging external environment Sheridan is contracting and adapting to remain a financially sustainable and vibrant community.

What is happening?

Sheridan is making changes to ensure financial sustainability and alignment with our strategic priorities.

Program Suspensions and Efficiency Reviews:

  • We are suspending some programs and placing others under efficiency reviews. All current students in these programs will have the opportunity to graduate.

See the full list of programs here.

Organizational Review:

  • We are conducting a comprehensive organizational review to streamline operations, transform processes, and enhance our ability to adapt with greater agility.

Restructuring:

  • As part of our budget management strategy, we are making role reductions. These decisions were not made lightly, and we remain committed to supporting employees through this transition.

Focus:

  • We will maintain our commitment to creative industries while building on our strengths in health innovation, skilled trades, and technology, such as advanced manufacturing.

Why is this happening?

A rapidly evolving and complex external environment has forced colleges and universities across the post-secondary sector in Canada to examine how they operate. Factors such as dramatic shifts in government policy, economic pressures, social and technological disruptions, and the resulting declining enrolment are reshaping the entire sector.

Based on enrolment modeling, Sheridan will have about 30% fewer students in the coming years.

In response, Sheridan is contracting, adapting and rethinking its future. We are doubling down on delivering standard-setting education and highly skilled graduates.

Sheridan will look different, but our commitment to learning, discovery and engagement remains the same.

“Post-secondary education transforms lives, families, and communities. The world demands resilient, adaptable, and innovative thinkers, and we are committed to preparing our students to meet that challenge. This contraction is about achieving sustainable scale, not compromising quality. We will continue to galvanize our students to shape an ever-changing world.”
