Sheridan's Schulich Builders scholarship winners announced
Ten Sheridan students were recently named as 2025-26 recipients of the prestigious Schulich Builders Scholarships. The students came from a pool of 380,000 potential candidates across Canada. More than 1,000 students were nominated, with 120 receiving this celebrated award across 12 colleges in Ontario.
The gift marks the third year for the Schulich Builders program, which aims to award hard-working students who are pursuing a diploma or certificate in the skilled trades at an eligible college. The Schulich Builders scholarships provide crucial support to students, who will be vital to help support Ontario’s economic success. More than one in six job openings are projected to be in the skilled trades by 2026.
“Sheridan College is extremely thankful that the Schulich Foundation continues to provide these opportunities to our students. These scholarship recipients have embarked on a path at our Magna School of Skilled Trades that will provide them with many career opportunities, and they will be crucial to filling the gap that exists in the skill trades in Ontario,” says Dr. Elizabeth Fabbroni, Dean of the Faculty of Applied Science and Technology at Sheridan.
“We are proud to support students in the skilled trades and open doors to this meaningful career path,” said Judy Schulich, Director of The Schulich Foundation. “Behind every home built and every community strengthened are the tradespeople who make it possible. Today, the shortage of these skilled workers is holding Canada back — and that’s why investing in young people who choose this path is one of the most impactful ways we can build a stronger, more prosperous country for all.”
Improving access to education is a core value of the Schulich Foundation. In a recent addendum to his best-selling 2006 book Get Smarter, Seymour Schulich reflects on how a scholarship helped him “get the head start” he needed.

“Without Schulich I wouldn’t have had any of these opportunities. So, becoming a recipient was the key that changed my future and put me on a different path.”
