Ten Sheridan students receive Canada's largest skilled trade scholarship
Ten individuals have been named Sheridan’s inaugural recipients of the Schulich Builders Scholarships for Skilled Trades.
Out of a pool of 350,000 potential candidates across Canada, more than 1,000 students were nominated. One hundred students across 10 Ontario colleges have received this celebrated award.
In February of this year, Sheridan was honoured to receive a $325,000 gift from the Schulich Foundation as part of this new program, which provides incoming students in the skilled trades with targeted, meaningful financial assistance.

“I am grateful to the Schulich Foundation for their incredible support, and I look forward to welcoming the Schulich Builders’ recipients to our campus this fall,” says Dr. Janet Morrison, President and Vice Chancellor of Sheridan. “Having access to this significant funding will be life-changing for these students – and the scholarships will also inspire other learners to pursue rewarding, and essential, careers in the skilled trades.”
“We are proud to promote the skilled trades and support students pursuing this rewarding career path,” said Judy Schulich, Director, The Schulich Foundation. “Canadians rely on the trades to build and maintain infrastructure critical for prosperous communities. Our challenge today is not having enough of these talented people to meet the demand.”
Thanks to Schulich’s support, Sheridan has been able to provide 10 scholarships: five $20,000 scholarships for students in a one-year certificate program, and five $40,000 scholarships for those pursuing a two-year diploma program. Sheridan’s Schulich Builders recipients are:
