Sheridan and Mississauga-based Stratejm partner to host women leaders in cybersecurity forum
An Evening with Women Leaders in Cybersecurity – the inaugural Mississauga Cybersecurity Forum event – will bring together professionals in the sector for a panel discussion and sharing of insights into the latest cybersecurity trends and threats. Hosted by Mississauga-based leader and innovator in cybersecurity, Stratejm, in partnership with Sheridan College, the forum will take place March 2 starting at 4:30 p.m. at the college’s Hazel McCallion Campus.
The evening kicks off with a networking reception followed by opening remarks from Her Worship Bonnie Crombie, Mayor of Mississauga and a panel featuring Jennifer R. Davidson, Partner, Tech, Data and Cybersecurity Law at Deeth Williams Wall LLP, Kelley Irwin, CIO at Electrical Safety Authority, Priya Sirwani, CISO at Fiera Capital and Julia Zhu, EVP and CDIO at Alectra Utilities.
“Bringing together the cybersecurity community to spotlight the crucial role women play in the industry creates space to discuss challenges and identify pathways to success,” says John Menezes, President and CEO of Stratejm. Nissreen Chams, Stratejm Account Executive adds: “There are tremendous implications that cybersecurity has on businesses in our increasingly digital world and Mississauga, where many businesses thrive, is an ideal location to have this conversation.”
Sheridan has a keen interest in the cybersecurity industry having launched Canada’s first cyber security degree more than 10 years ago. The Honours Bachelor of Information Sciences (Cyber Security) program prepares graduates with the technical and theoretical skills required for a rewarding career in a rapidly growing sector. Ali Hassan, Sheridan cybersecurity program coordinator, will also attend the forum and address attendees.
“The forum presents a welcome opportunity for our students to hear from women who have paved the way in a traditionally male-dominated industry,” says Hassan. “We’re thrilled to partner with Stratejm to help facilitate this crucial conversation.”
