Several Sheridan alumni scooped up awards at the 2019 Directors Guild of Canada Awards.
The awards, which were presented on Oct. 26, celebrate the film and television productions that DGC members have brought to life.
Shelley Therrien (Advanced Television and Film ’11) received the award for Best Picture Editing – Documentary for her work on Queering the Script.
Wendy Hallam-Martin (Media Arts ’87) won Best Picture Editing – Drama Series for her work on Episode 201 of The Handmaid’s Tale.
Alumni also won awards for three of the four Sound Editing categories.
Northern Rescue, Episode 109, Wake Up won the award for Best Sound Editing – Comedy or Family Series, with a team that includes Susan Fawcett (Media Arts ’03) and Clive Turner (Media Arts ’85).
Aleck Bullick (Media Arts ’02), Jill Purdy (Media Arts ’96) and Tyler Whitham (Media Arts ’06) worked on American Gods, which took home the award for Best Sound Editing – Dramatic Series.
Whitham and Purdy were also part of the sound editing team for Scary Stories to Tell In the Dark, along with JR Fountain (Media Arts ’01) and Claudia Pinto (Media Arts ’14). The film won the award for Best Sound Editing – Feature Film
