Alumni win for sound editing at DGC Awards

Several alumni took home hardware at the 2018 Directors Guild of Canada Awards.

The awards, which were presented on October 20 at the Fairmont Royal York in Toronto, celebrate the film and television productions that DGC members have brought to life.

The Expanse, Episode 205, Home won the award for Best Sound Editing – Feature Film, with a team that includes David Rose (Media Arts ’91), Tyler Whitham (Media Arts ’06) and Dashen Naidoo (Media Arts ’06).

Whitham and Naidoo also worked on The Shape of Water, which was awarded Best Sound Editing – Feature Film. Jill Purdy (Media Arts ’96) and Alex Bullick (Media Arts ’02) were also on the sound editing team.

Kelly McGahey (Media Arts ’15) received the award for Best Sound Editing – Movies for Television and Mini Series for her work on Cardinal: Blackfly Season.
