Sheridan grad nabs 2018 Annie Award

Sheridan alumnus John Chun Chiu Lee has received an Annie Award for his work on Coco. The 2003 Computer Animation graduate was honoured on the weekend at the 45^th annual Annie Awards, the top prize given out by the International Animated Film Society.

Lee won for Outstanding Achievement for Character Animation in an Animated Feature Production. He was one of four alumni nominated for an Annie. Other alumni also contributed to many nominated films, including The Breadwinner, which won for Best Animated Feature-Independent. Alumnus Frank Falcone (Computer Animation ’92) served as Executive Producer of The Breadwinner.

 “Congratulations to our talented alumni who won, and to those who were nominated,” says Angela Stukator, Associate Dean of Animation and Game Design at Sheridan. “Sheridan’s presence at many of the awards shows across the industry demonstrates our continued success in educating highly skilled animation graduates.”

Three Sheridan alumni worked on Coco, which won 11 Annies overall, including best animated feature.  Sheridan’s animation programs include the Bachelor of Animation and Bachelor of Game Design, as well as post-graduate certificates in computer animation, digital character animation and visual effects.
