In Photos: Centre for Intelligent Manufacturing celebrates 10 years of advancing applied research in advanced manufacturing

Over the past decade, Generator at Sheridan's Centre for Intelligent Manufacturing (CIM) has collaborated with industry and community partners to deliver bold, real-world solutions that address complex innovation challenges across sectors.

On November 25, the Centre held a 10th anniversary celebration, bringing together researchers, faculty, staff, and partners who have contributed to CIM’s impact. Guests explored CIM’s state-of-the-art facilities, followed by remarks from Sheridan leadership and CIM partners that reflected on the past decade and envisioned future. The afternoon concluded with lively conversation, networking and light bites.

As CIM looks forward, the Centre is excited to continue leading innovation with impact through collaborative, cutting-edge research.

Guests toured the Centre for Intelligent Manufacturing’s state-of-the-art facilities. During the tour, guests learned about CIM’s advanced technological capacities through live demonstrations that highlighted the Centre’s strengths in robotics, automation and 3D printing.

Dr. Vicki Mowat, Sheridan’s Dean of Research, delivered the celebration’s welcoming remarks, congratulating the Centre and its partners on a decade of applied research achievements that are driving real-world innovation with impact.

Mary Vaughan, Sheridan’s Provost & VP Academic, addressed attendees noting Sheridan’s national leadership in innovation that benefits communities, industries and the broader research, innovation and entrepreneurship (RIE) ecosystem as well as the unique, hands-on learning experiences students gain through applied research.

Dr. Carolyn Moorlag, Generator at Sheridan’s Director of Research & Innovation, showcased CIM milestones and project highlights. She was joined by industry partners from Rex Power Magnetics, DIA Labs and Toronto Fresh Food who shared how their collaboration with CIM has helped their organizations remain innovative, adaptable, and prepared for the future.

Guests connected over light bites and lively conversation, sparking ideas and collaboration to make the next ten years of CIM even more impactful.
