Sheridan’s fall Class of 2024 was honoured and celebrated at six ceremonies at the International Centre in Mississauga in October.

More than 4,000 graduates joined over 220,000 Sheridan alumni in earning a certificate, diploma or degree from Sheridan which will help launch them into the next part of their journey. With their potential unlocked, they’re ready and empowered to help shape an ever-changing world.

Graduates from Continuing and Professional Studies, the Faculty of Animation, Arts & Design, the Faculty of Applied Health and Community Studies, the Faculty of Applied Science and Technology, the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and the Pilon School of Business crossed the stage in front of family, friends, classmates, faculty and staff, then joined a reception after each ceremony.

Here, in photos, is the Class of 2024 fall convocation.

Honours Bachelor of Music Theatre Performance graduate Annika Tupper ('23) sang O Canada at the beginning of each ceremony. She also performed The Climb, written by Jessi Alexander and Jon Mabe, as a special tribute to the graduates that was met with an enthusiastic reception from the audience.

Graduates were able to take advantage of a number of unique photo opportunities during a reception celebration. A 3D camera proved popular with graduates and their families, enabling them to capture feelings of excitement and celebration in live action.

Graduates had the opportunity to look back on their Sheridan journey, and were recorded as they reflected on and shared their thoughts at the popular Speaker’s Corner backstage, answering questions such as: If you could go back in time and give your pre-college self some advice, what advice would you give? What has Sheridan unlocked for you? How is being here today at convocation meaningful to you?

A student eagerly receives their stole from a convocation ambassador prior to the start of the ceremony. A stole represents the realization of excellence in the graduate's chosen program and symbolizes their membership in the international community of scholars. The double blue outer edge of the stole signifies that the graduates is an alumnus of Sheridan, while the inside velvet band represents the Faculty of the award.

Convocation is a success thanks to many staff and faculty members who come to support and celebrate the students. A total of 193 convocation ambassadors, including 124 Sheridan staff and 69 students, contributed to the event’s success, supporting both graduates and over 9,000 convocation guests.

President Janet Morrison adjusts the stole of valedictorian Jason-Tyler Edwards on stage before his speech.

Sheridan President and Vice Chancellor Dr. Janet Morrison adjusts Pilon School of Business valedictorian Jason-Tyler Edwards’ stole before he gives his valedictory address. “Sheridan has given you the map to help you make your way in the world,” Morrison said in her address to graduates. “It’s always OK to ask for directions, but the road ahead is yours to discover. The relationships you have formed here, the diverse ideas you have encountered, and the lessons you have learned will continue to guide you.”

Sheridan’s mascot Bruno brought smiles and hugs to guests of all ages during each of the ceremonies. Bruno always ensures that everyone, no matter how old or young, has their chance to capture a photo memory with him.
